This page explains how to have your DermoShelf account and the data attached to it deleted. You do not need an account, or to be signed in, to read it.
App and developer
- App — DermoShelf
- Developer — DermoShelf
- Website — https://www.dermoshelf.com
1. Delete it inside the app (fastest)
The delete control lives in the app itself, on both mobile and the web app, and it takes effect the moment you confirm.
- Open DermoShelf and sign in with the account you want deleted.
- Go to Profile.
- Choose “Delete account”, then confirm with “Delete my account”.
- You are signed out immediately and the 30-day window below starts.
2. Can't open the app any more? Ask us by email
Lost the device, or can't sign in? Send the request by email instead. Write from the address the account is registered to — that address is how we check the request is really yours.
- Subject line: “Account deletion request”.
- Say in the message that you want your DermoShelf account and its data deleted.
- Send it from the account's own email address; we can't act on a request that arrives from a different one.
Send it to dermoshelf@gmail.com
We normally reply within a few working days and start the deletion within 30 days at the latest; permanent removal then follows the 30-day recovery window described below. Guest accounts carry no email address and can't be matched this way — they are removed automatically after 30 days without use.
3. What gets deleted
- Skin profile — skin type, conditions, allergies, concerns and your consent records.
- Your shelf — products you own, your wishlist, routines and family profiles.
- Scan history with every verdict attached to it, plus any label photos still sitting in temporary storage.
- Adviser chat messages.
- Sign-in identity (your email address) and any push notification subscriptions.
- Want your data gone but the account kept? Profile → Reset all data wipes your shelf, scans, adviser messages, family profiles and skin profile, and leaves the account itself in place.
4. Timeline — 30 days to change your mind
- Straight away: the account is marked as deleted and signed out, and it stops being usable.
- Straight away: push notification subscriptions are removed, so notifications stop. If you used Sign in with Apple, we also revoke the Apple token, which cuts the link between DermoShelf and your Apple ID — if that revocation fails we retry it, so write to us if the app still shows up under your Apple ID.
- For 30 days: the record is held back, because delete buttons do get pressed by mistake. Sign in again inside that window and the account comes back with your shelf and history intact.
- After 30 days: a scheduled job deletes the account for good, sign-in identity included. Nothing can be restored after that — signing in with the same address gives you a brand-new, empty account.
5. What we keep, and for how long
- Encrypted backups — up to 90 days, after which they expire on their own.
- Subscription and payment records — while the subscription runs and for 13 months after it ends, because accounting and dispute rules require it. They hold no skin-profile data and no card numbers.
- Aggregate statistics that can no longer be traced back to a person.
- Consent-gated usage analytics events (PostHog, Amplitude) — they carry only an internal account ID and no profile content; once the account is deleted that ID no longer maps to anyone.
6. Deleting the account does not cancel a subscription
A Pro subscription is billed by the store, not by us, so deleting the account does not stop it. Cancel it first: App Store subscriptions in your Apple account settings, Google Play subscriptions on the Play subscriptions page, and web purchases from the billing page inside DermoShelf. Otherwise billing carries on after the account is gone.
